Duties:
- In addition to the Emergency Department – Level 1 Volunteer duties:
- Round on patients and visitors in the waiting area if there is no ED Ambassador
- Assists patients with accessing and using the Get Well App
- Assist patients with phone calling and answering
- Stay with patients while they eat as directed by nursing
- Bring staff supplies as requested
- Bring sensory items to patients when nursing requests
- Train new Emergency Department – Level 1 volunteers
- Observe and assist other volunteers in the ED
- Give feedback to Lead concerning issues with other volunteers
- Recommend other volunteers to be advanced to level 2
- Assure high level of volunteer service in the ED
Qualifications:
- Have volunteered at least 10 shifts in the Emergency Department as Level 1, and have met all of the qualifications and requirements of the Department Lead for consideration
- Complete the Level 2 ED competencies including:
- Wheelchair and gurney cleaning
- Meal Observation
- Level 2 general competency (example- able to do GoBack task in the supply closet)
- ED volunteers need to be mature and self-starters
- Must have and follow an established schedule after receiving ED orientation
- Able to communicate to the patients and visitors in a manner that exemplifies Compassion and Excellence
- Effectively communicates with nursing regarding patient’s needs and questions
- Able to use and explain the Get Well App to patients
- Ability to understand the culture of the Emergency Department including staff
Assignments:
(All shifts may not be available)
- Monday – Sunday: 12am-4am, 4am-8am, 8am-12pm, 12pm-4pm, 4pm-8pm, 8pm-12am
