Duties:
- Serve on the Patient Engagement Focus Group (PEFG) and attend monthly meetings. The PEFG discusses and provides feedback in hospital programs, policies, and procedures to improve the patient experience. Members include patients, family members, and hospital staff.
- Participate in discussion groups. Focus Groups share their experience on what it is like to be a patient, and/or family member. They provide feedback where improvements can be made to enhance hospital quality and safety standards, keeping patient safety and welfare in mind.
- Review and provide feedback on materials such as health information handouts, discharge instructions, and marketing materials to make these materials easier for the public, patients, and family members to understand and use.
- Work on various short-term projects, subject to the PEFG member’s availability.
- PEFG members may be given the choice to participate on other committees, councils and focus groups.
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Palomar UC San Diego Health patient or patient’s family member.
- Attend and participate every other month in PEFG meetings.
- Interact with committee members, hospital management, and staff in a respectful and responsible manner.
- Use problem-solving skills to suggest improvements in hospital policies and procedures that improve patient care, quality, and safety.
- Maintain patient and hospital confidentiality at all times.
