Duties:
- Support the Palomar UC San Diego Health Trauma Recovery Center staff
- Make calls to families on the hold list.
- Accompany a staff member to pick up a minor client from the community to attend weekly scheduled in person therapy sessions.
- Clean, inventory, stock and discard old or expired food items in the Kitchen
- Assist with Child Watch or support the lobby waiting area as needed.
- Escort community members throughout the building as needed.
- Assemble and replenish Coping Skills Bags and grounding tools.
- Office support such as laminating, decorating, filing, stapling, copying, inventory (supplies, games, coping bags), replenishing office supplies as needed.
- Assist with hospitality of members, asking if they need a snack and offer wayfinding.
- Build intake packets, make copies and replenish intake forms.
- Help staff set up for group activities such as art therapy.
- Assist with monitoring of the food supplies in the Food Expiration Book.
- Give Tours as needed.
- Clean and organize the Office Coffee Bar.
- Available for events such as:
- Place pinwheels in designated areas (annual event)
- Assist staff for preparation of community events on the 3rd Saturday of the month
- Assist with preparations for Camp Hope summer camp (Julian or Imperial Beach).
Qualifications:
- Adult volunteer with 100 hours of prior Palomar UC San Diego Health Volunteer experience or approved by the Director or Supervisor of Volunteer Services.
- Complete the OneSafePlace Orientation.
- Interested in working with children.
- Be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Be able to follow cleaning/sanitizing procedures.
- Volunteers must possess the maturity, responsibility and interpersonal skills to interact cordially with patients, staff, volunteers and other customers.
- Volunteers must maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Must be cleared by the District Attorney’s office via a background check.
