The California Department of Public Health has awarded the pharmacies at both Palomar UC San Diego Health Poway and Escondido with a “Gold” status, the highest designation given, for Antimicrobial Stewardship in the Healthcare-Associated Infections Program.

The pharmacies were independently graded by an external panel of antimicrobial experts representing different facility types: community, academia, major teaching and community with special populations. The final review phase included evaluating each program’s quality and impact.
The pharmacies are now able to display the “Antimicrobial Stewardship Honor Roll” gold medallion for the next two years.
