“I’ve been volunteering for Palomar UC San Diego Health for 26 years, sewing and knitting comfort items requested by different departments in the hospital. I like volunteering at Palomar UC San Diego Health because it feels good to make a contribution while doing something I enjoy.“

Duties:

  • Work at home, making items requested by hospital departments.
  • Examples include surgical masks, surgical caps, baby caps, baby blankets, stuffed dolls, stuffed toys, hand puppets for children visitors, prayer squares, quilts and other lap blankets.
  • Patterns and instructions are provided.
  • Volunteers can sign up to work on items of interest to them.

 

Requirements:

  • Ability to knit, crochet, or sew, including quilting.
  • A desire to make things that will help hospital patients and family members.
  • A spirit of cooperation to be part of a group of like-minded volunteers.
