The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Palomar UC San Diego Health Escondido, in partnership with Rady Children’s Health, is a CCS Community/Level III NICU that provides intensive care 24 hours a day to any newborn who needs it. Our multidisciplinary NICU team delivers compassionate, innovative and extraordinary care to one of our most vulnerable populations.

Our NICU combines innovative, state-of-the-art technology with a commitment to family-centered care, allowing us to meet the needs of every infant.

We care deeply about our patients, their families and caregivers. In the Rady Children’s NICU at Palomar UC San Diego Health, the following practices are in place to ensure that everyone involved in your infant’s care is comfortable and informed:

  • Open visitation for families
  • Family members are encouraged to help with the baby’s care
  • Breastfeeding mothers are supported by Lactation Consultants
