Spine Treatments and Surgical Procedures

Palomar UC San Diego Health Leads the Region in Spine Surgery

Escondido is the only hospital in the San Diego metro area to be named one of America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Spine Surgery for 6 years in a row! We’re also the only hospital in the San Diego metro area to achieve a 5-star for Hip Fracture Treatment for 11 years in a row.

A Better Approach to Treating Back and Neck Disorders

We offer the latest conservative treatments along with minimally invasive surgical options. Patients can expect prompt appointments with leading specialists and individualized attention from the entire care team. This helps to ensure that every step of your experience – from diagnosis to rehabilitation – progresses smoothly and successfully.

Palomar UC San Diego Health’s Orthopedic and Spine Center offers the expertise and experience of sub-specialty trained orthopedic and neurosurgeons covering the following:

  • Micro-discectomy
  • Motion-sparing disc arthroplasty
  • Minimally invasive lumbar and cervical fusion
  • Spine tumor removal

Nearly a third of our surgical patients do not require instrumentation. When fusion is necessary, our surgeons use the most minimally invasive technique possible for the following:

  • Smaller incisions
  • Quicker recovery with less pain
  • Improved range of motion
  • Fewer complications

A Dedicated Team of Spine Experts

When it comes to matters of the spine and neck, specialists at Palomar UC San Diego Health’s Orthopedic and Spine Center know it takes a thorough and detailed analysis to determine the exact cause of pain or discomfort. That’s why the Orthopedic and Spine Center’s team of spine experts includes neurosurgeons and fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeons, physical therapists, interventional radiologists, pain management specialists and integrative medicine specialists.

The extensive training, vast experience and state-of-the-art diagnostic tools that physicians apply to pinpoint the source of pain in these sensitive areas ensure the use of the most conservative remedies. Often, patients will find relief from pain with conservative treatment. However, when necessary, your physician will recommend the most minimally invasive surgery available, which promotes less blood loss and faster recovery.

No matter the path taken to achieve your goal, you can be assured that your needs are the most crucial factors taken into consideration by your specialist and healthcare team.
