About the Author

Teresa (Terri) Badagliacco-Cabrera has been a practicing Critical Care Registered Nurse since 1986. Her passion for excellence and evidence-based practice has continually driven her professional growth. Over the years, she has held various leadership roles, including serving as President of the San Diego Area Chapter of the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (SDAACN) in the 1990s.

In 2007, Terri played a pivotal role in launching the Rapid Response Nurse (RRN) Program at Palomar UC San Diego Health, which continues to thrive under her guidance. Through her long tenure, she has expanded the reach and influence of the RRN team, fostering education, mentorship and empowerment among nurses across the organization. Her efforts have been instrumental in strengthening early sepsis recognition and intervention within the Emergency Department.

Having obtained her associate’s degree, Terri exemplifies how lifelong learning, clinical expertise and the consistent application of evidence-based practice enable bedside nurses to drive meaningful change and achieve optimal patient outcomes.
