Nationally Recognized Heart and Vascular Program

The Palomar UC San Diego Health Heart and Vascular Center is a Cardiac Center of Excellence and recognized by national healthcare leaders and quality organizations for providing high-quality care, patient safety and exceptional outcomes.

The American Heart Association awarded Palomar UC San Diego Health with the 2017 Mission: Lifeline Bronze Receiving Quality Achievement Award for implementing specific quality improvement measures outlined by the American Heart Association for the treatment of patients who suffer severe heart attacks. Palomar UC San Diego Health earned the award for its collaboration with emergency medical providers that led to quick and effective response to re-establish blood flow to patients who enter the Emergency Department with blocked arteries (heart attack).

The American College of Cardiology awarded Palomar UC San Diego Health in 2017 and again in 2018 with the ACTION Registry Platinum Performance Achievement Award for its consistency in meeting patient care guidelines for high-risk cardiovascular patients.

The Women’s Choice Award selected Palomar UC San Diego Health Poway as a 2019 America’s Best Hospital for Heart Care. The hospital earned the award based on its patient satisfaction (HCAHPS) scores. Palomar UC San Diego Health Poway and Escondido also earned a 2019 America’s Best Hospital award for Stroke Care.
