Radiosurgery treatment at Palomar UC San Diego Health uses a team approach where our medical experts collaborate with San Diego County and South Riverside County patients receiving radiation care at our facility. Team members may include a surgeon, radiation oncologist, medical oncologist, medical physicist, nurse, radiation therapist and other team members within the clinic.

Brian Volpp, M.D., is a radiation oncologist at Palomar UC San Diego Health, with a special interest in stereotactic body radiosurgery to extracranial sites as well as integrative medicine.

He completed undergraduate work at Princeton University, where he graduated cum laude and Academic All-Ivy League with a degree in history and a certificate in American Studies. He also was a four-time varsity letter winner in baseball and played two seasons of semi-professional baseball prior to starting medical school. His post-baccalaureate study was a dual MD/MPH program, studying medicine in his adopted home state of Nevada and public health administration at Loma Linda University, where he was selected to the Delta Omega Honor Society. He completed his residency in preliminary medicine at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, followed by radiation oncology training at Southern California Kaiser Permanente.

Dr. Volpp has published research on spinal cord tumors and prostate cancer and has been primary investigator for an IRB-approved clinical trial in stereotactic radiosurgery for prostate cancer within both Palomar UC San Diego Health and Sharp Health systems.
